Sylvain Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc is an impressive and expressive wine made from Chardonnay sourced from vineyards just outside Puligny Montrachet and Meursault. The wine is packed with citrus fruit, touches of orange, stone fruit and lovely spiced vanilla notes. There is a lovely creamy texture to the wine along with fresh minerality and subtle oak flavours which add depth and structure. Superb wine given its classification.
Domaine Sylvain Bzikot maybe one of the lesser-known names in Puligny Montrachet, but the quiet and reserved Sylvain lets his wines, rather than a PR machine do the talking. The Domaine was started by Sylvain’s grandfather, a Polish emigrant, who arrived in Puligny just before the 2nd World War with nothing but the clothes he stood up in. From those very humble beginnings this family Domaine has managed to acquire an impressive 4 hectares of some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world, namely Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru. They own a further 9 hectares of “regional appellation” vineyards which produce Bourgogne Blanc, Aligoté and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
