Domaine Christophe Vaudoisey Volnay 1er Cru ‘Clos des Chenes’ comes from a vineyard planted with 80-year-old vines. It is a wine with a unique and powerful personality, intense black fruits and alluring spice notes along with an elegant and rich finish. The wine is a real favourite here and will reward further cellaring.

Christophe and his son Pierre are the 8th and 9th generations of the Vaudoisey family to tend the vines at this magnificent estate that has been in the family for over 200 years. Like many Burgundian producers, Christophe and Pierre combine generations of knowhow and an in depth understanding of the vineyards with modern techniques to produce wines that are full, complex, rich and consistently good. A new cellar was built in 2008 which provides modern wine making facilities for these amazingly traditional wines. The reds spend 16-18 months in oak (30% new) and are some of the silkiest and most seductive Burgundies we have tried in recent years. The fruit is ripe and elegant and perfect for drinking now.
