Very fruit forward on the nose, almost stewed but with subtle herby notes. Raspberry and cherry come through on the palate with a gentle roundness. The tannins are grippy but will soften with ages and there is a lovely structure with stone minerality. Elegant and well-structured Pinot Noir, with fresh acidity and a long aromatic finish.
Domaine Guy Amiot is run today by 4th and 5th generation owner Thierry and Fabrice along with Thierry’s daughter Heloise. The Domaine was founded in the 1920s by Arsene and Flavie Amiot who ran successful businesses in Paris which allowed them to acquire land and buildings in Chassagne Montrachet where their children were raised. Their 2nd son, Pierre, trained as a winegrower and started producing wines from his parents’ vineyards. The Domaine now produces 26 different wines in what has turned out to be one of the worlds elite white wine growing regions. They are even lucky enough to have some vines in the Le Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard.
