Taaibosch Crescendo is a Cabernet Franc dominated Bordeaux blend which displays amazing concentration and finesse. Lovely dark red and soft blackberry fruit dominated with toasty notes, cedar and vanilla. There is a real depth to the fruit which is unctuous and ripe yet the whole wine has amazing aromatics and freshness on the finish.
Taaibosch, named after the indigenous fynbos species that grows on the estate, was formally known as cult 1990’s winery Cordoba. Cordoba shot to fame (That’s wine world fame not Kim Kasdashian style fame) in the 1990’s for producing not only outstanding wine but South Africa’s first Cabernet Franc dominated blend. After the owners lost interest in the project through the noughties, the grapes were sold off each year rather than bottled and the farm was eventually sold to Bertrand Oddo in 2017. The wine is now being estate bottled by Bertrand and his new team and the world is a far better place for it.
