Sylvain Bzikot Puligny Montrachet is one of the most impressive Puligny Montrachets we’ve tried. It’s perfect in every way and has a mystical allure and beauty which is hard to resist. Supremely complex with ripe lemons and limes, touches of honey and fresh blossom on the nose followed by a structured and weighty palate. There are hints of vanilla, hazelnuts, fresh peach and citrus on the finish which is perfectly balanced with mouth-watering acidity. Delicious!
Domaine Sylvain Bzikot maybe one of the lesser-known names in Puligny Montrachet, but the quiet and reserved Sylvain lets his wines, rather than a PR machine do the talking. The Domaine was started by Sylvain’s grandfather, a Polish emigrant, who arrived in Puligny just before the 2nd World War with nothing but the clothes he stood up in. From those very humble beginnings this family Domaine has managed to acquire an impressive 4 hectares of some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world, namely Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru. They own a further 9 hectares of “regional appellation” vineyards which produce Bourgogne Blanc, Aligoté and Bourgogne Pinot Noir.
