Miles Mossop Max is a Cabernet Sauvignon dominated Bordeaux blend from Stellenbosch in South Africa. Added to the Cabernet is Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. It is a wonderful wine which captures the elegance of a Bordeaux with the richer, riper fruit character of South African wines. The wine is full of dark cherry, plum and blackberry fruit with hints of cocoa, spice, coffee and cedar coming through on the palate. There is also a lovely fresh graphite note and the oak is perfectly integrated with the fruit. It is deliciously complex and outstandingly good value.

Miles has been making his own wine since 2004 and until 2018 also held down the position of head winemaker at Tokara. In the past few years, he has expanded both his production and range and now, after leaving Tokara, is solely focused on his own wines. Miles has a very simple approach which starts with sourcing the best grapes from the best vineyards and picking them at the right time. Production is limited to 80 tons and focuses on Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon. These are truly handcrafted and wonderful wines which bring all the joy and instant pleasure of warmer climate wines together with the elegance and complexity of French wines.
