Mahi ‘The Alias’ Sauvignon Blanc is a flamboyant and distinctive wine with an amazing balance of oak character, vibrant fruit and fresh acidity. It’s hard to believe the age of this wine with its dark yellow fruit, fleshy green fruit and youthful vigour. The vanilla and toffee oak flavours come through lovely but enhance rather than overpower the fruit. Wonderful texture and finish.
15 months in French barrel, of which 8% is new.
Mahi was founded at the turn of the last century by affable Brian & Nicola Brickenll. Brian had worked for 15 years as a wine maker around the world, before returning to Marlborough to start his own project. Brian wanted to showcase, not only Marlborough’s regional characteristics, but also focus on unique, high quality, single vineyard plots. They now have eight individual vineyard sites which are planted with specific varieties to suit each plot. The resulting wines have an air of elegance, texture and complexity, which are utterly delicious.
