Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of Chateau Latour; the 2005 is bang in the middle of its drinking window. Made up of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, the 2005 was an easy vintage for the estate with good weather at harvest. Intense on the nose with great concentration which expresses itself nicely on the palate with a lovely weight and balance. Red fruit, rich cassis, smoke and tobacco come through on the palate. A classic expression from this estate.
Chateau Latour is a renowned wine estate situated in Pauillac, within the Haut-Medoc sub-region on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. While the estate’s origins trace back to the 14th century, its vineyards were not planted until the 1600s. It lies at the southern boundary of the Pauillac appellation, adjacent to the Saint-Julien vineyards of Château Leoville Las Cases. Latour holds a prestigious position as one of the five First Growths in the historic 1855 Classification, alongside Chateaux Lafite Rothschild, Margaux, Haut-Brion, and Mouton Rothschild.
