Crafted from 50 year old Chardonnay vines on the regions infamous limestone and clay soils, this is an intense and classic white Burgundy with yellow fruits on the nose and touches of vanilla. On the palate, there is a creaminess and apple, pear and peach notes. Honey and almond come through on the finish along with a stony, mineral touch. This really shines when paired with seafood like crab and lobster.
Domaine Guy Amiot is run today by 4th and 5th generation owner Thierry and Fabrice along with Thierry’s daughter Heloise. The Domaine was founded in the 1920s by Arsene and Flavie Amiot who ran successful businesses in Paris which allowed them to acquire land and buildings in Chassagne Montrachet where their children were raised. Their 2nd son, Pierre, trained as a winegrower and started producing wines from his parents’ vineyards. The Domaine now produces 26 different wines in what has turned out to be one of the worlds elite white wine growing regions. They are even lucky enough to have some vines in the Le Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard.
