This wine takes its name from Fabrice Amiot’s Great Grandmother. A blend of 3 plots, 70% is vinified in tank and 30% in old oak. This is a powerful wine for a Bourgogne level wine. Exotic, tropical notes of mango, pear and apple with a steely undertone. Fresh with sharp acidity and green herbaceous note with subtle hints of stewed apple and bread yeast from the old oak.
Domaine Guy Amiot is run today by 4th and 5th generation owner Thierry and Fabrice along with Thierry’s daughter Heloise. The Domaine was founded in the 1920s by Arsene and Flavie Amiot who ran successful businesses in Paris which allowed them to acquire land and buildings in Chassagne Montrachet where their children were raised. Their 2nd son, Pierre, trained as a winegrower and started producing wines from his parents’ vineyards. The Domaine now produces 26 different wines in what has turned out to be one of the worlds elite white wine growing regions. They are even lucky enough to have some vines in the Le Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard.
