Chateau du Glana 2015 is a dense, concentrated and quite magnificent wine from the opulent 2015 vintage. Made from a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the wine offers vibrant cassis fruit, plum and black fruit flavours, along with intoxicating herb and spice notes. There is an excellent graphite note on the palate, along with dark chocolate and coffee bean aromas. Brilliant and decadent wine.
Chateau du Glana is a lovely property which is owned and run by the Meffre family, who bought the winery in 1961. It is located on the Route des Grands Vins between the villages of Beychevelle and Saint-Julien, just opposite Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou. The estate has grown over the years as vineyards were purchased from Chateau Lagrange and Chateau Saint-Pierre. Although the estate does not hold a lofty classification, is has superb terroir and the quality of the wines, although high, continues to improve. It is a modern operation whose buildings were completely restored in 2003, but they retain a strong respect for traditional techniques.
