Chateau Talbot 2020 is made from a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. This is the highest amount of Cabernet Sauvignon the estate has used in a blend and has resulted in a more intense, powerful wine with lovely cedar and chocolate notes along with ripe black cherry and wild mint notes. This is an estate on the up, definitely worth getting to know.
Chateau Talbot is a large estate covering 102 hectares and is famous for being owned by Englishman John Talbot. Mr Talbot, the then Earl of Shrewsbury, was defeated in battle in 1453 by the French who then took control of Bordeaux and its vineyards which had been in the hands of the English for 340 years. To top a bad day off for Mr Talbot, he also lost his life in said battle.
