Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron 2020 is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot. It’s a brilliant wine with sweet red and black berry fruit, tobacco, wood smoke, pencil shavings, graphite and more elegant rose petal and cinnamon notes. Perfumed and powerful. A classic.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron is one of Bordeaux’s “Super seconds” and is now owned by the AXA Millesimes Group. The Chateau was a little neglected and the wines course until the massive French insurance companies purchase in 1987, which saw an immediate injection of cash for the renovation of the large Chateau building. A new winery was constructed in 1991 and extra vineyards were also acquired to bring the vineyard holdings to 73 hectares. Quality is top draw again and continues to rise under the stewardship of Englishman Christin Seely.
