Chateau Lynch Bages 2020 was the first wine made in the estate’s new state-of-the-art winery. All in all, it looks like the winery works just fine if this wine is anything to go by! Classic oak notes of pencil shaving, spice, anise and cedar are beautifully intermingled with crème de cassis, blackcurrant and blueberry fruit notes. The tannins are on point and the wine has amazing structure, concentration and balance. Will age beautifully.
Chateau Lynch Bages is one of Bordeaux’s most famous estates and has been owned by the Cazes family since 1938. The estate is classified as a 5th growth, but few would deny that its quality is now on a par with most 2nd growths. Like Leoville Barton, it has been loved by the Brits for decades and is one of those wines that always drinks well regardless of its age and never lets you down. The estate has 90 hectares of vineyards, superbly located on a plateau to the west of the town of Pauillac. Cabernet Sauvignon at 75% dominates with 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
