Chateau Lynch Bages 2019 is made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot with the remaining 6% being Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Aged in 75% new French oak, it has an incredible aroma of blackcurrant, cedar, flowers, smoke and graphite. The tannins are perfectly integrated and will keep softening out with the alcohol and acidity. This really is a standout wine from Lynch-Bages. It should keep evolving for decades if you can keep your hands off it that long!
Chateau Lynch Bages is one of Bordeaux’s most famous estates and has been owned by the Cazes family since 1938. The estate is classified as a 5th growth, but few would deny that its quality is now on a par with most 2nd growths. Like Leoville Barton, it has been loved by the Brits for decades and is one of those wines that always drinks well regardless of its age and never lets you down. The estate has 90 hectares of vineyards, superbly located on a plateau to the west of the town of Pauillac. Cabernet Sauvignon at 75% dominates with 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
