Chateau Kalian Bernasse Monbazillac is a charming, sweet wine made from a blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Muscadelle. Like all good, sweet wines, it is brimming with opulent fruit – orange marmalade, yellow fruit, exotic stone fruit and although sweet, it retains fresh, cleansing acidity. The wine is certified organic and is the perfect match with fruit-based desserts and cheese.
Chateau Kalian Bernasse is a nine-hectare estate located in the AOC of Monbazillac, which sits south of Bergerac in southwest France. The estate was bought in 1992 by Anne and Alain Griaud, who have been consistently making superb value sweet wine for over 30 years. The area has the idea conditions to encourage the growth of noble rot, which although sounding horrible, is the magic rot required to make exceptional sweet wine. These styles of wine maybe unfashionable, but the wines from here do offer tremendous value and are ideal with a cheese board.
