Chateau Batailley 2022 delivers everything you want from a Pauillac wine. It is packed with concentrated black fruit, cassis and morello cherries which are perfectly balanced with wonderful oak notes of liquorice, pencil shaving, graphite and cedar. It’s medium bodied, but complex and extremely well made.
Chateau Batailley is a 5th Cru Classe estate based in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux. The vineyard sits on a plateau to the west of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and is owned by the Casteja family who are like Bordeaux royalty. Philippe Casteja now runs the estate and has overseen a period of change that has seen the wines move from good quality, reliable clarets to wines of more serious quality that have complexity, finesse and fantastic purity of fruit.
