Corbaia is a fantastic Super-Tuscan made by Chianti specialists Castello di Bossi. It is a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from a single vineyard called Corbaia which was planted over 40 years ago. It is aged in Allier oak and has great finesse and superb complexity with intense dark cherry, prune and cassis fruit, balsamic notes, exotic spice and a dense, silky palate.
Castello di Bossi, owned by the colourful Marco Bacci, is one of Tuscany’s leading wine estates. Marco has invested heavily, not just financially but with his time and attention to detail in all aspects of the winery and the results really show in the wines. The estate is located in the southern half of the Chianti Classico zone, in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where the mild climate helps produce highly structured wines. Marco has some lovely older vineyards of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, planted over 40 years ago, which provide the grapes for the superb Super Tuscans he produces.
