Casa Santos Lima ‘Imprudente’ Tinto is a bright and fruity red made from a blend of local Portuguese grapes - Castelao, Camarate, Tinta Miúda and Touriga Nacional. It has lovely red and black fruit aromas perfectly balanced with gentle spice notes of vanilla, pepper and liquorice. The wine has a warm, soft feel, with gentle tannins and is perfect everyday drinking or to partner grilled meats.
Casa Santos Lima has been owned by the Santos Lima family for five generations. They now produce a formidable range of wines from six regions within Portugal and have secured a well-deserved reputation for producing wines with an excellent quality to price ration (Something I’m all for). Their main winery is in Alenquer, 45km’s north of the city of Lisbon, which is a DOC within the wider Lisboa region. Here, they are the largest producer of both Regional Lisboa and DOC Alenquer wines. Through a combination of vineyard ownership and investment in regional wineries they now produce wine in the Algarve, Alentejo, Vinho Verde, Dao and Douro regions.
