Bodegas Maisulan Rioja Jovan Las Saleras is a remarkably smooth and fruit forward wine with wild berry fruit, dark raspberry, deep strawberry, along with touches of black fruit. The wine has a delightful spice note that is peppery and sweet at the same time. Great length and complexity for a young wine which is effortlessly drinkable and vibrant. A great example of modern Rioja that is all about the fruit and less about the oak.

Bodegas Maisulan is a relatively new winery founded in 2001 by Luis Ruiz de Vinaspre and Eva Fernandez. The 20 hectares of vineyards are located in the sub region of Rioja Alavesa, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria by the towns of Elvillar and Laguardia. The care and love that is put into these vineyards is nothing short of phenomenal. There are no chemical products used and with biodynamic practices and Fukuoka’s principals (You’ll need to Google it) deployed, the wines are as natural as you’ll get with the added benefit of also tasting clean, fresh and amazingly vibrant.
